Achraf Hakimi, Eliesse Ben Seghir, and Renaissance Berkane amongst CAF awards 2024 finalists
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) formally introduced on Monday the checklist of 5 finalists in every class for the 2024 CAF Awards, with Moroccan worldwide Achraf Hakimi nominated for the celebrated African Player of the Year award.
In addition to Hakimi, the right-back for Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain, the contenders for African Player of the Year embody Ivorian Simon Adingra (Brighton & Hove Albion), Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns). In the Young Player of the Year class, Moroccan worldwide Eliesse Ben Seghir, who performs for AS Monaco in France, is nominated alongside Karim Konaté (Ivory Coast/Salzburg), Oumar Diakité (Ivory Coast/Reims), Yankuba Minteh (Gambia/Brighton & Hove Albion), and Lamine Camara (Senegal/AS Monaco).
For the Club of the Year award, the 5 finalists embody Renaissance Berkane, alongside South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Egypt’s Al Ahly and Zamalek, and Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis. The prestigious CAF Awards 2024 ceremony will happen in Marrakech on December 16.
