CAF Pres. sees in selecting Morocco to host 2030 World Cup ‘nice pleasure’ for Africa
The official designation of Morocco because the host nation for the 2030 World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal, through the FIFA Extraordinary Congress held on Wednesday by way of videoconference, is “a great pride for African football,” said the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe.
“This day is a source of great pride for African football, as Morocco becomes the second African country in FIFA history to host the World Cup,” emphasised Motsepe, as quoted in a press release from the Confederation of African Football.
“CAF celebrates this historic event and congratulates Morocco and its partners, Portugal and Spain,” he added.
According to Motsepe, “the alliance between Morocco, Portugal, and Spain represents a symbolic bridge between Africa and Europe through football and inspires all actors in the world of football to work together to make the world a better place.”
