FIFA formally approves Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid for 2030 World Cup

FIFA formally permitted Wednesday the joint bid from Morocco, Spain, and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup throughout its extraordinary congress, granting approval to the bid named “Yalla Vamos.”

At the congress, FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that the 2030 World Cup can be awarded to the Morocco-Spain-Portugal trio, whereas Saudi Arabia was granted the 2034 World Cup.

“We confirm the eligibility of the joint bid between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal,” said Infantino.

This victory marks the fruits of Morocco’s persistent efforts to host the World Cup, which started with its first bid in 1994, adopted by subsequent makes an attempt in 1998, 2006, 2010, and 2026. With every effort, Morocco grew stronger, refining its imaginative and prescient and willpower to safe the distinguished occasion.

As a part of the bid, six Moroccan stadiums have been chosen to host matches: Hassan II Stadium (Casablanca), Moulay Abdallah Stadium (Rabat), Grand Stadium of Tangier, Grand Stadium of Agadir, Fes Sports Complex, and Grand Stadium of Marrakech.

Hassan II Stadium, alongside Madrid’s iconic Santiago Bernabéu and Barcelona’s Camp Nou, obtained the best score (4.3/5) and is in competition to host the opening and shutting matches.
